The North Forks is pretty awesome in the summer. We know that. But how about less than three weeks away from the official start of winter? We say equally as awesome. Sure, the water at the beaches is a little cold but that doesn’t mean the town shuts down.
In fact, quite the opposite. Greenport will be ROCKING this weekend! We know. We know. It’s always a good time in the ‘Port’. This weekend will be extra special. And for that, we should SHELL-A-BRATE!
What are we talking about?! Shellabration, of course! What is that? Greenport Shellabration is a restaurant walk which features the best in local shellfish, wine, and beer! For two days (Saturday and Sunday) wristbands will grant participants access to enjoy the very best culinary creations of Greenport’s leading chefs.
Why are we so excited about this? For one, it’s easy on the pocket! Grab $5 small plates featuring LOCAL shellfish that will be paired with $3 pours of LOCAL wine or beer. That means fill your belly and injure your liver on the CHEAP! Wristbands will also get participants discounts and promotions at participating merchants throughout Greenport Village. You know, all those stores you toured from Memorial Day to Labor Day but couldn’t pull the trigger on what you really wanted.
Your wristband also entitles you to the first tasting of the day–a free glass of Greenport Harbor Ale and a SPAT sponsored raw bar tasting of clams and oysters at the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company (234 Carpenter Street). Here you will receive your tour map pinpointing the participating restaurants.
And the icing on the cake? All proceeds from the sales of wristbands will directly support the following efforts of Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Marine Program, specifically the Back to the Bays Initiative and the Southold Project in Aquaculture Training (SPAT).
