Yes, the MLB All Star Game was in Minnesota and yes, this is still a site about NEW YORK Events. Don’t be fooled by the location, the game is a New York event. We saw Derek Jeter in an All Star Game for the last time…ever. That statement gave me chills writing it. Even as a Mets fan, I have grown to love and respect Jeter’s style and play, both on and off the field. My admiration for him goes beyond baseball (and the list of beautiful women he’s been with). Jeter did it the right way. In an age of questionable performance and dirty record books, his name is clean. You feel good saying that he’s a surefire Hall of Famer. He was surrounded by nonsense with his toxic teammate A-Roid and had plenty of opportunities to crush him but that’s not Jeter. He’s a class act and, unfortunately, a rarity in today’s beautiful game.

This is not a sports website and I am not a baseball journalist but I am a New Yorker and think that this event should not be discounted. We may never see another Jeter in our lives. Make sure you tune in to the All Star Game, watch the highlights, get to a Yankee game and soak it all in. Your kids and grandkids will appreciate the story of the time you saw Jeter play.
