This bassist continuously puts himself at the center of sharp little bands that can pull off just about anything: If Wolfe wants lyricism, they breathe a sigh or two. If he wants a bruiser, that can be easily arranged as well. Tonight’s outfit, with Orrin Evans, JD Allen, and Donald Edwards, should bring grace to whichever style their leader chooses.
