Below the refined dining of Louie and Chan, in the lounge and on the dance floor of the303, these experienced DJs will spin music inspired by and from the Michael Joseph Jackson canon. When the doors open at 6pm and until the wee hours of Wednesday, in what will be the fifth anniversary of MJJ’s passing, Sound & Substance will coalesce from three unique and original sources.
Using sound as his mouthpiece, Sonny Daze summons talent, charisma and dedication to his craft. That which he spins communicates to the ears and into the collective consciousness. He truly delivers a soundscape that is nourishing to mind, soul, and body. Those who are drawn to his dance floors, remain in motion, elation and elevation. The Sonny Daze experience is a fiery cycle of dynamic tonal color and emotion.
Veteran downtown NYC DJ Greg Poole is known for his wide repertoire and eclectic sets. Ever-curious over his twenty-five years of spinning, he has absorbed the many genres of New York, as well as lesser known permutations. He relishes inclusive sonic diversity and has developed into a party polyglot weaving a seamless mix of rare grooves, fresh remixes and forgotten favorites. Greg Poole spans and dives into the deep end of music.
Bridging these two towers of the DJ community and music scene is the karmic chameleon of cues and cuts, Benjam. He’s an avuncular chap who makes hands clap and travels all over the map for that boom bap. And in the musical mix, his sound results are substantial: Benjam gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind and flight to the imagination.
