In 2009, the only surviving lifetime portrait of Shakespeare was unveiled after having been hung unrecognized for centuries in an Irish country house. This exhibition at The Morgan Library & Museum is the first time this portrait—along with one of Shakespeare’s patron, Henry Wriothesley—will be seen outside of the UK.
