Although data shows that it wasn’t that bad, we know the winter was horrible. Now, get over it! Its summer time and we’re not talking about anything frozen except for the ice cubes in our drinks on top of a roof or maybe an ice luge in a bro bar if you’re into that. Whatever the case is, we’re not talking about the weather! Now that we cleared that up, let’s talk about Frieze!
Frieze New York, one of the worlds’s leading contemporary art fairs. To make it even more of an awesome, interesting and special event, it takes place on Randall’s Island! That’s not all; the exhibits are housed in a bespoke structure and located in a unique setting overlooking the East River. If you’re thinking of London right now and don’t know why, it’s not because of the Royal Baby, it’s because Frieze New York takes a similar approach to Frieze London, one of the world’s most influential contemporary art fairs. Although they have a similar name, Frieze New York and Frieze London are separate fairs and applications to each are a discreet process.
If you haven’t heard about Frieze yet, this is only the fourth time that it’s happening. The fourth edition of Frieze New York will bring together over 190 of the world’s most exciting galleries. This year sees the first New York edition of Spotlight, a section dedicated to solo presentations of 20th-century art curated by Adriano Pedrosa. The fair’s expansive non-profit program includes Frieze Projects, Frieze Talks, Frieze Sounds and Frieze Education activities.
The fair will be open to the public May 14–17 and more information and tickets are available at friezenewyork.com.
