New York City is the best city in the world. Let us start with that before we tell you why it’s not so great in the summer; especially on weekends. Aside from the smell of garbage everywhere, the humidity and dreadful summer subway rides, the city looks different.
There are different people around in the summer and almost every weekend when the usual crowd heads out east, the tourist and ‘visitors’ come to town and play. While we welcome everyone to enjoy our city at any time and happy to provide our input on what’s going on (ahem, New York Events), we just are not used to it. Some like it some don’t.
If you’re in the latter club, don’t have a place to go out east, hate the heat and like to swim, we have some solutions for you! While New York has all the activities you could ever want, there is a limited amount of swimming pools and places to cool off in the summer. Unless you’re staying at one of the few hotels (or clubs) that has a rooftop pool and have access (probably filed with tourists), you’re not swimming.
Not so fast! There are some great public pools around town that you definitely should consider (as opposed to opening the fire hydrant). No, we cannot guarantee they are not pee pools. However, we will bring them to your attention. Our friends at Timeout helped us compile this list of places to cool down during New York summers and we’re happy to share it with you. The best part is that some of them have diving boards! CANNNON BALL!!!!!!!!
