We’re just a couple of weeks away from it being officially springtime. While the weather may not feel like the season, the calendar marches on. As with the excitement of the changing season, the events begin to kick up a notch.
The holiday recovery has happened, and the city is ready to ART. What does that mean? Well, if you’re an art person then you have this period earmarked. If you’re a wannabe or can appreciate a nice spread, this is the time when some of the biggest exhibitions hit New York City.
One of our favorites around here is the Armory Show. This show is New York City’s premier art fair and a leading cultural destination for discovering and collecting the world’s most important 20th- and 21st-century art. The Armory Show features presentations by leading international galleries, innovative artist commissions and dynamic public programs. Since its founding in 1994, The Armory Show has served as a nexus for the art world, inspiring dialogue, discovery and patronage in the visual arts.
The Armory Show was founded by four New York gallerists – Colin de Land, Pat Hearn, Matthew Marks and Paul Morris – who sought a platform to present and promote new voices in the visual arts. In its 25 years, The Armory Show has stayed firm to its mission while establishing itself as an unmissable art event set in the heart of New York City and welcoming over 65,000 visitors annually.
It’s a big deal and attracts the novices like us, the heavy hitting collectors, those who run galleries and even celebs. This is a big deal.
The Armory Show, located on Pier 90, is a top international art fair that combines a selection of the world’s leading galleries—more than 200 of them from 30 countries around the world—with an unsurpassed program of art events and exhibitions at the fair venue and throughout New York City.
Don’t feel bad that you haven’t heard of it or missed it on your calendar. That’s why we’re here!
The show begins today and runs through the entire weekend. For more information and tickets, visit thearmoryshow.com.
