Hey film buffs! Here’s a must-see film event to add to your list! The New York Greek Film Expo is coming up October 2-12. It’s the perfect outing for a film lover. And you don’t have to be Greek! New York Greek Film Expo is a film festival for all New Yorkers.

Presented by Hellenic Film Society (HFS), programming includes screenings of the latest and greatest Greek films and special appearances by many of the actors and directors who brought them to life, who will be visiting from Greece. The second weekend will feature a retrospective of films by the acclaimed director Pantelis Voulgaris, who will also receive the HFS Lifetime Achievement Award.

Don’t speak Greek? No worries! All films have English subtitles.

What a lineup! The festival kicks off on Thursday, October 2 with the US premiere of the comedy Murphy’s Law, directed by Angelos Frantzis. It stars Katia Goulioni and Andreas Konstantinou, two of Greece’s most renowned actors. All three will attend opening night at the Directors Guild Theater in Manhattan for a Q&A with the audience.

And there’s more! Six additional new films will be shown October 3-5 at Village East Theater in Manhattan. Then, on October 7 & 8, the Expo moves to the Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee, NJ. Finally, on October 10-12, see the Voulgaris retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria.

New York Greek Film Expo 2025 is made possible by lead supporters The Kallinikeion Foundation and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Additional support is provided by Microsoft, Greek National Tourism Organization, New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Council, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, and Antenna Satellite TV.

HFS is dedicated to promoting Greek cinema throughout the United States. Their mission is to share the richness of Greek films with a wider American audience, to showcase Greek movies, and to preserve the film heritage of Greece.
