@ Lucille Lortel Theatre – 121 Christopher Street

In 1988, a Broadway production based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel Carrie became one of the most infamous Broadway flops in history. For decades afterward, the show’s creators refused to allow the play to be staged again. Now, the original writers have teamed up with Stafford Arima, former director of Off-Broadway musical Altar Boyz, to re-envision that musical and create a new stage production for a new era. The show includes 10 new songs, as well as several selections from the original production, and has a decidedly non-campy vibe.
