With the emergence of casinos EVERYWHERE, it has made a lot of us numb to what was once a very exciting road trip, long weekend, or all-nighter. Now, all we have to do is get to Yonkers or Aqueduct to do some gambling. For me, it was always more than getting to a destination to throw some money down on black or watching the wheels spin. It was an event.

Going to a casino included making hotel reservations, dinner reservations for the weekend, buying show tickets, getting on the list for nightlife events and other considerations that had to be made before packing up the car and making sure we had our EZ Pass.

While the gambling landscape has changed, Atlantic City and the Connecticut Casinos still exist! They’re still loaded with great restaurants, shows, and nightlife. Why haven’t you visited yet?

With summer winding down, you should keep Atlantic City on your radar. If gambling is not your thing, check into The Chelsea Hotel. The Chelsea is Atlantic City’s only true boutique hotel, located above the boardwalk and steps from the beach. If gambling is your thing, go to the Revel and Borgata. Heck, take off a few days during the week and get a great rate! Use the beach, eat at the restaurants, and gamble if that’s your thing.

Most important, don’t lose sight of such a great local vacation venue in the summer!
