The East Village is well known for laid-back bars and restaurants with a young clientele and Zum Schneider is no different. This Bavarian Beer Garden on Avenue C has a selection of twelve beers on tap with a selective menu of bratwursts, dumplings and freshly baked pretzels to complement. Try the Spaten Optimator if you’re a dark beer fan or the newly introduced Hofbräuhaus München Sommerbier – the traditional Munich beer. Tables are family style and on weekends when the bar is SRO, feel free to spill outside to the outdoor tables. Beers are served in the correct glassware and are available in small, medium or large sizes. Don’t go for the large unless you’re really thirsty as it is more like a pitcher of beer than a glass. This bar is cash only. Wine and soft drinks are also available.
