We’ve been on lockdown on what feels like forever and while there’s no end date yet, we can look East for some hope. Long Island recently entered phase one of reopening. The business categories that are reopening may not include what we’re looking for just yet but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. The phase one business categories include: construction, retail (limited to curbside or in-store pickup or drop off), agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting, manufacturing and wholesale trade.
You are not missing anything; bars and restaurants are not included in that list yet. However, we are encouraged by the progress and hopeful that we’ll be dining out soon. We know how the bars and restaurants are woven into the fabric of our daily lives here and they’ll be back soon. In the meantime, we are looking to Long Island activities and summer outdoor fun. We don’t know about you, but we have binge watched what we needed to see and ready to enjoy some fresh air. If you haven’t heard, many services are discounted as a result of the pandemic. One of these include rental cars, so if you don’t have a car, rent one on the cheap and drive east!
As you know, our team of city rats is always touting how great it is to live in the Greatest City in the World and working to deliver you the most interesting and unusual experiences we can find. As you know, that has all been put on hold at the moment which is why we’re temporarily looking toward the island! Some of the activities you can look forward to including long walks on the beach or through a local park, winery tours and intimate, quaint lodging in hotels and B&Bs. There are also plenty of COVID friendly art galleries, golf courses and outlet malls and independent shops. As we said, plenty to do!
Look East (for now)!
