While the title of this article could have you thinking of something else, that is not what we are talking about. There was a time when you couldn’t go out in this town without a suit and tie or at least a sports jacket. Hell, most places even had blazers available to borrow. While this dress code still exists in select spaces, it is certainly not the norm in 2018.

For better or worse, we have become more lax and casual. It is not uncommon to go to a high-end restaurant and see people in jeans. Society has chosen to get comfortable and the fashion industry has made that possible.

As we have moved in this direction, so have our events. Yes, there are still plenty of white and black-tie affairs. However, we find that a more casual environment helps increase attendance.

To support the casual vibe, selecting an appropriate venue is imperative. For instance, you should not be selecting the Ballroom at the Plaza for an after-work happy hour. For starters, it will cost you a ton and people may get the wrong idea or be intimated by the venue.

We cannot stress the importance of the venue selection enough when trying to entice your guests to attend. If it’s a casual, after-work networking affair, choose a pub. It’s simple. And, it works! No, we are not advising you to choose a pub for your next affair, but we are pointing out that society has toned things down.

The benefit of all of this is that you now have more options! With a casual vibe, comes a more budget friendly event and more spaces to choose from!

It’s also important to point out that you can choose a high-end venue and then tone it down. The point is you have options! And, we’re here to help.

You know your customer. We know a space. Let’s keep it cas!
