We’ve become accustomed to finding all the cool and unusual in Brooklyn. It seems like the high rent prices drove those looking to do something interesting out of Manhattan and into Brooklyn. That seems to now be spreading into Queens. Albeit just over the border of the borough but still trickling in. The venue we’re talking about today is called Nowadays. The space consists of an outdoor and indoor gathering place on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood. Can’t get closer than that! Nowadays has delicious food and drinks at reasonable prices alongside frequent cultural programming. Now that’s where we’d like to focus.
The Ridgewood haven is also known for its top-notch sound system, chill vibe and the place you only tell your closest friends about. Nowadays provides a unique environment that is everchanging. The venue is now doing free weekly movies on a big screen, accompanied by their surround-sound for a deeply immersive trip. On the list in the near future, you can catch films featuring your heroes including Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix and Otis Redding.
The Nowadays Music Film Series is officially on! Each Wednesday night Nowadays screen a music film, playing the audio through their awesome sound system. Diner by the Izakaya serves up hot ramen, and they’ve got high quality beers from the likes of Hudson Valley Brewing and Evil Twin at the bar. Now, does that sound like something you would be interested in? We certainly are!
In a town where everyone is trying to be different, only to be the same, Noawadays truly stands out and provides you with a unique experience with a reason to come back. If you’re used to traveling to Brooklyn, this is just over the border (baby steps). If you don’t know Queens yet, this is the place to start. Just wait til the nice weather comes.
