New York’s International Center of Photography is honoring its 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award winner Elliott Erwitt with this career-spanning exhibition of 100 images—selected by Erwitt himself. Erwitt has worked with legends (Robert Capa, Roy Stryker) and photographed icons (Marilyn Monroe, Che Guevara). But a good deal of his “Personal Best” features everyday Americans living in the moment, even as history flies by behind them.
