For many of you, Summer Sundays involve sitting in traffic on the Long Island Expressway, New Jersey Turnpike or Garden State Parkway. While Summer is coming to a fast close and you want to get the most beach time in as possible, maybe leave a little earlier this weekend. We have a really good excuse to get back! In fact, if you can go directly to Queens, that would be ideal. Just make sure you’re riding with Uber or a designated driver.
If you haven’t heard, next week is New York Cocktail Expo Week, running through August 24th. The week will be filled with featured seminars, education and various events at other locations near in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. Somewhat of an industry event, they kick off the week with a party that anyone who appreciates a good drink can appreciate! This is New York’s Premier Cocktail Festival where New York’s top mixologists and cocktail bars gather in Long Island City, Queens to show off what they got!
The event takes place at Melrose Ballroom; it’s here where the best shows off their skills for your benefit! There will be plenty of alcohol flowing, all types of different cocktails will be available for tasting—from dignified classics to cutting-edge innovations. There’s even an entire room dedicated to rum and a TIKI Throwdown – so you won’t miss the beach too much. The event has something for everyone (who is legal drinking age) including the artistry and history behind what’s in those glasses and plenty of pours to leave feeling tipsy. Maybe you want both – an education and a buzz. Any way you slice it, you will have a great time!
The day of tastings with more distilleries than ever before and an expanded Rum Room will conclude with New York’s Top Cocktail Bars competition in the “Best Cocktail” Competition and Iconic TIKI Throw Down to win top honors! This event is not to be missed. Happy Sunday!
