Do you know who Terry Zheng is? Yes, he was a sushi chef. If that’s not how you know him, then maybe it’s from his one of a kind creation called the 5D Cinema.
Beyond 2D and 3D, this is something beyond anything you haven’t seen in New York. Even more unique is the fact that where it’s located. Yes, it has an address…well, sort of. The cinema is located on West 12th and Bowery Streets. However, do not expect a cinema that you are used to. 5D is located in (get ready for it), a U-Haul truck! We are not kidding!
The cinema is housed in a particle-board shack painted bright yellow, contains six seats mounted to a track that jerks and tilts and dips in sync with 3D movies and cheesy special effects. Sounds like Great Adventure, yes? Seriously, it’s pretty sick.
Well hurry up and check it out as it’s in its final weekend. Riders pick from 72 titles, some of which would make good bad-trip simulators, like “Fly Knife” and “Crazy Sleigh.”
It’s open from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday and 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. Admission is just 5 bucks.
