While the Summer is officially coming to an end this week it doesn’t mean that you have to turn your head away from the beaches and water until next year. In fact, we are more focused on it than ever this week as we still are making plans to head out east. We know, Labor Day is long gone and with that may be beach days. However, it doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate everything that Long Island has to bring us in the Fall. Especially, when there’s a festival and a reason to head out!
The annual event takes place on the North Fork and its not to be missed. We are talking about the Maritime Festival! The weekend-long event is hosted by The East End Seaport Museum & Marine Foundation (EESM). The purpose of the festival is to benefit educational programs, museum offerings, and the preservation Long Beach Bar (Bug) Light. During the day, you’ll enjoy classic boat displays, kayak races, music, children’s activities, maritime demonstrations, roving Sea Shanties and of course approximately 100 great vendors that feature hand crafted and unique items. It’s an epic presentation of everything we appreciate in the summer in a way that kicks off the fall.
We also would like to tell you about a special component of the weekend where the Maritime Festival actually kicks off the night before with the Land and Sea Gala at the Greenport Yacht Ship Building Co. to benefit the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation. At this event, local restaurants will serve up tastes accompanied by liquid refreshment from local wineries and beverage producers. In addition to delectable bites and libations will an after party at Claudios! If you haven’t been during the summer months, this is your opportunity to relive the Summer of 2022 and get ready for the autumn season. We certainly cannot wait!
