The New-York Historical Society and the Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History will honor the centennial of the Titanic’s maiden voyage with an installation featuring items from both collections that tell the story of the passengers on the Titanic.  Highlights include Washington Dodge’s handwritten eyewitness account of the ship’s sinking; a bronze medal presented to Arthur Rostron, captain of the Carpathia, for his heroic rescue of Titanic survivors; and a photographic portrait of Isidor Straus, ownder of H.R. Macy & Co., and his wife Ida, who perished together.
