The Holiday Season is in full effect. The tree has been lit,
Saks light show is going every 10 minutes and the ball has been raised in Time Square
ready to fall in a few weeks’ time. It’s exciting and people from all over the world
come to experience it. There is nothing like the energy in New York City this
time of year. With the Holidays, comes travel and a lot of that travel is by
train. While its probably not your favorite place to be, trains are a part of
the Holiday Season. You likely prefer to be above ground and not in the subway
so viewing the trains on display is a great option. How about if we threw in a
drink and placed you in a beautiful setting? Sound like something you’d have to
travel for, right? Wrong! You don’t even have to leave the five boroughs! While
you may have to take a subway to get there, you’ll soon forget any negative
experience you have along the way when you step into the garden. Yes, a garden.
In the Winter.
We are teeing up an event that we get excited for every year. It’s the Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden. The show has more than 25 G-scale model trains and trolleys hum along nearly a half-mile of track. Don’t forget to look up—NYC bridges come together to create an aerial display of trains soaring overhead! Further, there are more than 175 scaled iconic buildings and structures such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Yankee Stadium, and the Statue of Liberty are displayed under thousands of twinkling lights. Step into a miniature city where famed New York architecture is recreated using bark, leaves, and other natural materials.
But wait. There’s more! The show has Bar Car Nights on select days! On these nights exclusively for adults 21 and over, the wintry landscape of NYBG sets the scene for festive outdoor adventures, with an after-dark viewing of the Holiday Train Show® as the centerpiece. Purchase a spiked hot chocolate and grab a bite from the Bronx Night Market Holiday Pop-up, then set out to explore the night’s offerings. Warm up around our handcrafted fire pits and feel the joy of the season with artistic ice carving, festive performers, dueling piano singalongs, and DJ sets curated by Uptown Vinyl Supreme.
