It seems like right after the Holidays, we look forward to Summer. It’s a long stretch with a lot of fun along the way but the light at the end of the tunnel is Summer. We cherish it in our town for so many reasons. While we’re not saying it’s the best season, we do love being outdoors, enjoying our parks, our rooftops and of course, just walking around exploring.  As all of this is happening, we have Labor Day in the back of our minds. Each trip back from Out East on a Sunday is one weekend closer to Labor Day. Why is that a bad thing? Well, it’s not but it’s the equivalent of our Sunday Scaries. Maybe we call them the August Scaries, the summer’s version of Sunday.  Scaries are never fun but there is a major event the world looks forward to all year round and that’s right here in Queens! The US Open is one of our signatures and makes the transition from Summer to Fall just a wee bit easier.

Even though it’s nothing new to our town, this year, the US Open’s three-week spectacle will begin with the biggest edition of US Open Fan Week yet. Prior to the start of the Open’s main draw, fans will be able to enter the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center grounds free of charge to enjoy world-class tennis in the US Open Qualifying Tournament, as players battle for the last 16 spots remaining in the big show, and a jam-packed schedule of off-court events that will truly redefine spectacular.

“This is the biggest and most exciting year yet for US Open Fan Week, and we hope everyone comes to enjoy a full week of world-class tennis and entertainment, all with free grounds admission to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center,” said US Open Tournament Director Stacey Allaster.

“With a lineup of unique signature events starring tennis icons and headlining entertainers, up-close access to the sport at its pinnacle and a variety of fun activities available every day, the US Open is truly open and accessible for all, as we welcome all fans and families alike to experience this one-of-a-kind festival the week before the US Open main draw.”

From signature events to special experiences, here’s all you need to know about US Open Fan Week this year, which, for the first time, is officially starting on Monday, Aug. 19.
