Most of the events we talk about take place in the New York Metropolitan area. While that includes the Lower Hudson Valley in the state of New York, this one is a bit north.
While the baseball world seems to be on pause at the moment, January reminds us that we’re just a little over a month away from pitchers and catchers. Can’t wait to cross off another day on our calendars!
The recent Baseball Hall of Fame induction announcement that includes Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz has New York Events excited. First of all, we’re reminded that the game was not totally polluted, we have something to look forward to and damn we haven’t been to Cooperstown in a minute!
Unfortunately for us Mets and Dodger fans, Mike Piazza will have to wait at least another year to get his plaque hung. However, we will be thinking of him on our drive upstate.
If you haven’t taken the trip or haven’t been since your dad took you 20+ years ago, we think it’s time. Aside from diving into baseball lore and arguing statistics for an entire weekend, we think that you’ll enjoy everything that the town and surrounding areas have to offer.
We recommend getting your hotel NOW if you’re thinking induction weekend (July 26th). If not, then you can probably wait a bit. The hotels are quaint and there’s a trolley to take you around, and the breweries (Ommegang is up there) are fantastic!
It’s more than baseball and even if you’re not an MLB fan, you surely can appreciate the history that got us here.
